Jessica's Style

Jessica VerBout, M.A., LMFT, CST is an independently licensed marriage and family therapist in Minnesota and an AASECT certified sex therapist. Therapeutically she uses techniques from various types of theories (e.g., Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solutions Focused Therapy, and others), as well as a sprinkling of bad jokes, analogies and metaphors, to work with you to heal, grow and discover current, or new, inner strengths you possess to handle life's struggles and transitions. Being trained in "Systems Theory," she believes every person has been influenced, at least in part, from their past, families of origins, and previous experiences. In understanding these influences one can understand new ways to manage life circumstances and develop the power to change, as the individual sees fit.

Jessica realized early on in her career she had a passion for treating sexuality concerns. To name a few areas she has treated: sexual/pornography compulsive/problematic behaviors, adults who have been convicted of a sexual offense and their families, minor-attracted persons, LGBTQIA2s+ individuals and relationships (monogamous and non-monogamous), and sexual desire differences. She fostered and further developed this interest by dedicating years of training and education in the topics of sexuality through the requirements of the American Association of Sexual Educators, Counselors and Therapists (AASECT) and has acquired professional certification from this organization, as well as is currently completing a PhD in Sexology from the Modern Sex Therapy Institute, so you can rest assured your sexual concerns are being treated with sensitivity and additional training compared to an non-certified sex therapist.
